Colonial Pact Common Liquid Fuel Fusion Reactor (CLFFR)

Related articles can be found, here.

A common template fusion reactor design which is scalable from small man-portable units up to those employed to power planetary level energy infrastructure grids, the CLFFR is one of the primary types of propulsion systems in use with the Colonial Pact Trade Alliance. The reactor design typically employs a EM hardened outer frame with most of the primary control systems within this protective casing, these are wrapped around the inner containment core which shields both these systems and those using the reactor from the fusion products within. The CLFFR type reactor employs a combination of small point gravitational compression combined with electromagnetic containment, compression, and heating to produce a miniature sphere of super-critical matter. Effectively a miniature sun the radiation and thermal products of this mass are what provide the energy and thermal (if needed) output of the reactor via a lining on the inside of the containment vessel. Input typically provided by a attached container can be any number of fusion fuel options with the most popular being hydrogen-hydrogen and deuterium-helium3. However it can be configured to operate on a variety of reactions.

  • Type: 'Wet' Fuel Fusion Reactor
  • Mount and Related Hardware: Typically the reactor containment and systems container with an interface system and fuel system.

Availability and Sales

'CLFFR' type systems are primarily used on Colonial Pact Trade Alliance military, civil security, and commercial vessels and platforms. However power systems of this type are often provided to client states or trusted private interests.
