Rostok-class Project K588 Guided Missile Frigate

Among the various items that where brought into existance by the 00840 Armaments Standardization Plan, the Rostock Class Frigate is the smallest of the vessels that came about as a result of the Asp. Like its counterparts it was designed as a multipurpose vessel intended to either serve as part of a fleet component (its primary role being perimeter defense) or as a solitary patrol vessel with enough capability to look after itself as well as handle a variety of missions. Unlike its larger cousins however the vessel lacks a significant spinal mounted weapon system, instead opting for a single set of large munition launchers. This was done both to save weight as well as reduce the cost of vessel, a bonus of this was the increase in hull space allowing for a larger multi-mission bay system. As a result it is the smallest ship with the secondary capability of carrying and deploying troops.

Below are the various weapon systems with their mounting style and configurations described.

Main Battery Weapons

  • 35A15-970-N3 355mm 'Basso' Compressed Plasma Cannons
    (2x Guns)
Two of these weapons are 'spinally' mounted with their bores being present on the front of the ship's bow, designed to work in tandem these two cannons produce a combined rate of fire of forty shots per minute.
  • 35A15-970-N2 205mm 'Visker' Compressed Plasma Cannons
    (8x Guns)
Eight N2 205mm plasma cannons are mounted in four twin gun turrets with two on top of the ship and two on the underside, three of these turrets are capable of superfiring with the fourth on top of the vessel mostly intended for stern defense.

Secondary Battery Weapons
