From the size of a soda can to a large fridge the Common Fission Thermal Battery or CFTB is a favorite for systems which may sit in storage conditions without the benefit of an umbilical system or for systems deployed in stand alone roles such as remote sensor posts. Consisting of a high density set of radiation and heat generating radioactive elements set in a casing lined with materials which convert said decay products into energy. This array is further contained in a typically heavy shielding container with a control and status system bolted on. These systems are usually paired with some form of capacitor allowing them to build up a charge to allow for the startup of a higher energy primary power source.

'CFTB' type systems are primarily used on Colonial Pact Trade Alliance military, civil security, and commercial vessels and platforms. However power systems of this type are often provided to client states or trusted private interests.
