The primary means of protection beyond the use of armor, all shield systems employed by the Colonial Pact Trade Alliance are a 'dual' system. The first being electromagnetically contained conformal cold plasma barrier which acts as the primary first defense against energy and kinetic based attacks. Typically consisting of a hull mounted emitter and plasma feed mechanism. The other, typically mounted inside the platform, is a mild gravitic field emitter forming either a conformal or spherical gravitational field. This system is primarily intended to protect the operating platform against exotic forms of energy weapons and various forms of teleportation technology. It may also interfere with various active electronic warfare technologies aimed at damaging the platform's electronics or personnel.
