P-1000UMK 'Starburn' Long Range Attack Missile (LRAM)

Related articles here.

The P-1000UMK 'Starburn' is a large, very long range anti-starship, and installation attack missile developed by the Colonial Pact for use against heavily fortified star systems, ship formations, or single point targets. It can be launched by fixed or mobile surface installations, larger strikecraft with the appropriate electronics packages, and by their primary carriers, starships.

This section covers the more general information of the Asper MRSAAM missile.

Sensors

Control and Guidance Systems

  • Capabilities
    Adaptive Guidance
While capable of direct command guidance from the launching starship, the missile is mostly a fire and forget system. With its myriad of sensor options and large processing power it is capable of adapting to the combat space, switching between various sensor feeds, cross referencing them, and combining images in order to determine the best mode to strike its target.
    Swarm Behavior
When launched in groups of three to four or more the missile system is capable of data linking with the other active munitions to form 'swarms' of cooperative weapons. Effectively turning the group into somewhat of a wolfpack for hunting down and destroying targets, they will use cooperative tactics including limiting their active sensor emissions to one weapon.
    Active ECM
The missile features an active jamming capacity which can be activated when the missile detects attempts at targeting it, while not as powerful as those found on ships when used in groups such as swarms of missiles it can be quite effective.

Armor and Structure

  • Structure
The Starburn is a heavy weight missile system with a layered composite cylindrical main body, this composite being composed of alternating layers of Cerrosteel and Decasteel. The inside of the weapon is framed with rings of Ensteel primarily to boost the endurance of the weapon against incoming fire and possible damage as well as maintain its shape during kinetic attacks. The vital parts of the missile such as the drive system, command electronics, and the warhead are encased in Ensteel to further increase the weapon's survivability against intercept attempts.
  • Active Protection
The missile employs a vehicle grade CFA-Type for both direct active protection against all manner of attacks against the torpedo and as a passive secondary protection against exotic energy waveforms that may cause issues with the torpedo's internal workings and electronics. It has a failure point of 1,250 Tj and comes online once the missile has been launched.
    Field Refresh Rate
    Every 12 Seconds

Sensor Ranges

  • Effective Sensor Range

    Vacuum
    30 AU
  • Maximum Sensor Range

Additional Systems

Propulsion

  • LISTM-Type KHIG-RMZvX-88 800mm Solid Fuel Fusion Jet
    (One Unit)
Featuring mechanically and electromagnetically steered exhaust as well as strategically placed plasma RCS blocks the missile has a wide range of maneuverability as well as a flexible output on speed depending on the situation.

Powerplant

  • Primary Power
Direct radio-thermal energy conversion from the main drives reaction core during flight.
  • Secondary/Storage Power
    CFTB-Type DSAI-VBt4 Thermal Power Cells
    (Two Units)
Paired with a 'pack' of Callenite capacitors they provide enough energy at any given time to start the missile's primary drive system as well as operate at least one of its processor cores primarily for system checks.

Warhead

(20.9 Gigatons Nominal Yield for direct KKV Impact - Vacuum Velocity Only)
(1.5 Gigatons Nominal Yield for directional fusion burst - Vacuum Velocity Only)
The standard anti-ship type of the P-1000 consists of a primary kinetic kill warhead with a secondary directional high yield fusion device. The first is a armor piercing high density system relying off the missile's mass and the extremely dense material of the missile's nose cone to pierce into a vessel, the missile typically breaking into multiple pieces and scattering throughout the ship's interior superstructure inflicting casualties, breaching the hull, and generally doing damage. Should the missile's guidance system or launching platform see otherwise the secondary warhead can be detonated at a stand off distance of five hundred kilometers, producing a directional 'duckbill' like arc of thermonuclear blast product (thermal energy, radiation, and plasma) moving at nearly the speed of light. While some bloom is to be expected the primary goal of this attack is to blanket one side of the vessel with a high energy blast front consisting of high energy radiation, high velocity plasma, and other thermonuclear blast products in a concentrated horizontally spreading cone.
