Hothouse Garden World
Planet Article
Breathable Atmosphere
Single Small Planetoid Satellite
Population of 75,000 +/-

The third planet settled by humanity in the Cascadium System, it is also the most extreme of the three garden worlds in terms of climate. Orbiting its star at a distance of seventy‑nine million kilometers (0.52 astronomical units), the planet endures the heat of its closer orbit, which by all conventional models, should have driven it into a runaway greenhouse state millions of years ago. Yet its atmosphere and climate remain precariously stable, held in check by mechanisms that are still not understood. The harsh humid conditions, powerful water cycle and related storms, and the difficulty of establishing permanent infrastructure have discouraged large‑scale development. This has left the world to a scattering of wildcat colonists, most clustered around its sole spaceport, Harlin’s Spring founded in 2770 A.D., in the northern reaches of the planet’s largest continent.

Cascade

Temperate Garden World
Planet Article
Breathable Atmosphere
Single Satellite
Population of 78.7 Million

The first planet to be selected for habitation in the Cascadium System, it received the initial wave of planned colony ships in 2701 A.D., which established the system’s first major planetary surface settlement. Known as Kappen City, this settlement lies within the temperate belt of the Vernian continent, sighted to take full advantage of the planet’s most hospitable latitudes and an extensive plain and river valley formation primed for large scale agricultural use. The planet orbits at a distance of one hundred and three million kilometers (0.68 astronomical units), this orbital radius gifting it with a stable and comfortable seasonal patterns who's norms closely align with those preferred by humanity. This has effectively made Cascade the primary anchor for human habitation and colonization in the Cascadium Star System.
