A compact rifle caliber personal defense weapon based on the 'Kist-type' common receiver system it is manufactured by a wide variety of licensed and illicit organizations within the Colonial Pact. Due to parts commonality with other Kist type weapons it is widely employed by the Colonial Pact military, civil, and private security forces and organizations. The Kist-VSBR or Very Short Barrel Rifle was designed as a personal defense weapon for use by vehicle crew, behind the lines troops, logistical personnel, and various non-frontline combat postings. Wildly successful in these roles it further found itself as a favorite weapon among various private interests due to the same reasons it was popular with military forces, its compact size, its common parts pool with other equally popular Kist type weapon systems, and its general ease of use.
