A type of active sensor system found on many Pact platforms, they are a dual mode system capable of acting as both a LIDAR system or as a direct range finding and targeting painting laser system. These will typically be paired with an optical array to complement the passive system and to employ the passive system as an initial target steering assist. Aside from the above roles they often also see use as a navigation aid, a surface scanning system, and as a passive warning receiver for other laser based sensor systems. ALRT type systems are primarily used on Colonial Pact military, civil security, and commercial vessels. However sensor systems of this type are often provided to client states or trusted private interests.
