Obviously its primary use is that of a principle armor system on a large number of military and civil systems. The main purpose of this being the outer ablative role where its density and hardness is best used. However it is a very brittle material with only a moderate tensile strength meaning it will break once it reaches the end of its endurance rather then slowly deforming. This can be countered by either compositing the material or using a casing of more flexible but less dense metals or polymers. Aside from armor Cerrosteel is also used in an insulating role in high temperature applications due to its high thermal insulative properties. It can also be used as a coating to reduce mechanical wear on softer materials and metals. It is widely manufactured throughout the Colonial Pact in both small and industrial scale amounts with the singular copyright on the material having expired centuries ago. -[[colonial_pact:economy#valuble_minerals_and_ores|Similar Articles Found Here]]
