The Springfield is an actively cooled dual stage weapon employing a chemically propelled caseless cartridge paired with a electromagnetic coil 'booster' for greater projectile velocity without needing a larger cartridge. It employs a digitally controlled electromagnetically cycled bolt moderated via lever delay with a recoil dampening counterweight system slung under the barrel. The system is 'fed' by a mechanically spun magazine 'cassette' holding a 'quad stack' of caseless cartridges with two double stacks one in front of the other. Feeding the cartridges is accomplished by the bolt travel distance being modified as the magazine is expended. The Springfield can employ either a forty-five cartridge 'straight' magazine or a eighty-two cartridge 'coffin' magazine. Both magazines hold a reservoir of nitrogen for cooling the weapon as well as a 'top off' capacitor for the weapon's onboard power cell.

A printable weapon, the frame is composed of easy to use and shape [[materials:decasteel]] with most internal high stress moving components coated with a thin layer of [[materials:cerrosteel]]. The weapon's exterior shell is typically a mix of either [[materials:valadyne]] or [[materials:kylar]] furniture.

***<fs large>IFF System</fs>**\\ When active the optic can see a patterned infrared signal worn on most UAS equipment and armor systems and can flag them in the optic as 'friendly'.\\ \\
  ***<fs large>2.5x - 12x Digital Zoom</fs>**\\ \\
***<fs large>Digital Low Latency Light Intensification</fs>**\\ Digital light amplification done via a very very low latency digital process allowing near parity with conventional light amplification technology of the 21st century.\\ \\
***<fs large>Thermal Overlay</fs>**\\ Lower resolution and lower range (650 meters) than a dedicated thermal optic, it still allows the overlay of 'hot' objects on the optic's output. Either directly overlaying the image or highlighting 'hot' possible hostile objects.

***<fs large>Smart Link Contact Grip</fs>**\\ A physical contact point located on the pistol grip that is broadly compatible with all CONFED armor systems and cybernetic implants, it can be tied to a user with augments physically with a hard line physical attachment.\\ \\
***<fs large>Action Access Cover</fs>**\\ A hinged cover underneath the cheek pad, it hinges to the left and provides access to the weapon's bolt and action for clearing malfuctions or unloading the weapon.\\ \\
***<fs large>Action Cycling Lever</fs>**\\ Located midway down the left side of the weapon, it is a folding slide lever and one motion will cycle the weapon's action once. It is used for opening the bolt manually, unloading the weapon, or clearing a jam.
