====== Colonial Pact Hyper-Optical Sensor Type System (HOSTS) ======
The primary optical type sensor array used in Colonial Pact designs, it is typically a three part sensor optic targeting the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared light spectrums. The standard purpose of this type of sensor is to act as an 'eye' for whatever system is employing it. Often the system is capable of allowing the user to employ either a single spectrum of light in the data output or overlap two or all three of the wavelengths to provide a compound image. This allows the user to see potential objects obscured in one or two of the spectrums which could be threats or hazards. While the uses for this type of system are practically limitless the specific roles employed in most Pact technology will be detailed below. 

===== General Optical Sights =====
Used on everything from an infantry man's helmet to the hull of a starship, this role is usually to provide either primary or secondary visuals for whatever platform the system is mounted on and or area awareness. Typically high definition (though it may increase to hyper-definition on larger systems such as those used to monitor the space around a starship) they will almost always support digital zoom and data link sharing. Additionally they can be used in a fire and guidance manner if the proper programs for selecting objects are present in the mounted platform's computer systems. 

===== Targeting Optics =====
The principle combat role for UV-VL-IR optics typically paired with a means of mechanical zoom (aided by digital enhancements), here the system is tasked with identifying, targeting, and tracking objects. Usually these systems are mounted on or near gun systems, if paired with a missile system they are typically mounted in some form of sensor array. Like the General Optical Sights, the Targeting Optics have the ability to overlap the three primary spectrums in order to search for targets invisible to or blurred in other spectrums. Also akin to the GOS types they can share their data feeds via common data-linkage systems. 

===== Missile Warning/Incoming Fire Direction Optics =====
An extension of the general optical sight role, this employs the UV-VL-IR systems as a launch/fire warning system. In this role the optic monitors the area surrounding the platform it is mounted on. If a missile system is launched toward it or incoming fire is seen the system automatically warns the user and gives direction as well as probable type of threat. This can often merely be an additional software package to existing optics however some employ dedicated warning systems.
