Unlike small craft and sub-systems ships receive a project number and a letter prefix to determine their primary roles. These are listed below along with a standard ship designation outline.

  *Ship Designation Letters
    *C - Carrier type vessels dedicated to operating strikecraft as their primary offensive armament.
    *B - Any combat vessel over one kilometer long.
    *K - Escort combat vessels under one kilometer.
    *S - Stealth combat vessels.
    *P - Low tonnage vessels designed for scouting or patrol.
    *T - Armed transports.
    *N - Civil and military logistical vessels.
