The Anglo-American Union, or more commonly referred to as simply 'The Union' or AAU, is an expansive interstellar power in the (new home) sector comprised of fifteen member state star systems and four satellite quasi independent star states. Of the four human powers in the region it is the second largest by territory controlled and third largest by population with some twenty-six billion souls calling its various worlds, space colonies, and habitats home.

The precursor to the Union can be traced back to the 2100s, a tumultuous time before the era of colonization in the solar system. A time when the nations of the world where gradually sloughing off the old hatreds of the 20th century for those of the 21st and the raw need for resources in a world where most of the easy to reach raw materials had long been exhausted. These new forces and other influences including the gradual fading of national identities gradually redrew the old national borders and these collections of former nations merging in large and powerful economic and military blocs.
